A nice stable, secure Major Arcana card for the week ahead. The Emperor is card 4 in the Tarot deck and reflects the stability, security and solidness of the number 4. In some decks he is called The Father and he can be a very beneficial card indeed. But he can have his problematic moments too. So what does he mean for us as we march into July?
In very general terms The Emperor bestows a kindly stability and a feeling of protection and security. He brings a more settled mature time where chaos is under control and background forces settle things down and convince us that all is well. We can feel a slightly benevolent air in life and it will be enough for us to relax our shoulders and feel as though certain responsibilities have been taken from us, even if just for a while. We can trust in some ways that the universe is having a protective influence over us and also that we are entering a time where finances and practical life will be more secure.
All good! Yet the Emperor can have its down side like all tarot cards. He stands for authority and The Establishment, government and officialdom and not all of these things make life easier. Whether you get on with him or not may well relate to how well you deal with authority. If you see big business, corporate structures and officialdom as negative, then you may well have a difficult week. You see the Emperor can be set in his ways and may not tolerate non adherence to his plans. So what does this mean for you exactly? Be discerning. Know who or what to go along with and only rock the boat with authority if you are very sure of your facts or something is unfair. Otherwise you will be put down by authority whether that be in your job or in something you are fighting for. Pick your battles carefully. This card represents the government bodies and the Police. If right is on your side, you will win.
Also known as The Father, it can bring attention to our dads and granddads. It can show us good masculine parenting and bad.
In career, this card highlights the need to treat authority figures with respect unless they have lost the plot. But fighting an unhinged Emperor may involve taking a big stance and possibly not winning.
In love it can lead to a settled time where positive male energy and passion bring joy. Yet it can also show up imbalance when male energy dominates too much.
In health it brings stability of chronic condition s but highlights ‘masculine’ issues like prostate, spine and stomach.
In finances it can bring good news or bad news from government sources. It can bring security to self-employed.
The Emperor card in the tarot brings differing opinions. Some like him; others see him as curtailing personal freedom by autonomy. Yet a benevolent Emperor rules fairly. He takes advice from his High Priest, his High Priestess, his magician and his Judiciary. He is slow to anger but fierce to justice. If you are an employer, what kind of Emperor will you be this week to your staff?
The same can be asked of parents. What kind of father/mother will you be this week? Will you be a listening, caring parent or a ‘my house, my rules’ dictator?
Enjoy the good aspects of The Emperor and have s secure and stable week.
